The Artemis II Orion spacecraft is at the peak of its trip around the moon—the first time humans have passed near our natural satellite in more than 50 years. The crew exceeded the distance record set by the 1970 Apollo 13 mission just before 2 P.
The findings were published March 20 in the journal AGU Advances and were based on data recorded by Juno in 2021 and 2022, after NASA granted an extension to the spacecraft’s operations upon completing a five-year science campaign at Jupiter.
